No state hosts more structure-damaging termite species than Florida does, according to University of Florida IFAS Extension research, a list that runs from native Eastern and Formosan subterranean termites to the more recently established Asian subterranean termite and several drywood species that skip the soil entirely and infest wood above ground.

Termites, cockroaches, mosquitoes, and ants all keep working on a nearly year-round schedule across most of Florida, since a true winter almost never shows up to force dormancy the way it would farther north, and that's a big part of why routine pest inspections are such a routine part of Florida real estate deals. The same warmth and humidity that keeps those pests going also builds up large outdoor populations of the American cockroach, known locally as the palmetto bug, in mulch and landscaping before it finds a way inside. Combine that much species diversity with a growing season that barely pauses, and Florida's pest pressure builds steadily rather than spiking and falling the way it does in colder states.

Florida licensing runs more finely divided than most states through the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' Structural Pest Control Act: certified operators hold one or more of four categories, general household pest and rodent control, lawn and ornamental work, termite and wood-destroying-organism control, and fumigation, and a general household license on its own doesn't cover termite work, which needs its own certification and exam entirely. Every location needs a certified operator in charge plus minimum liability insurance, and the fees add up fast: $300 for the business license and another $300 per category exam.

Wildlife related services work a little differently here too. Several of the services on this site, including Bat Removal, Raccoon Removal, Squirrel Removal, Snake Removal, Pigeon & Bird Control, and Wildlife Removal, mostly fall outside FDACS's structural pest licensing and instead follow Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rules, which include permit requirements for excluding bats specifically during the state's spring and summer maternity season. FDACS does issue one narrower credential, a Limited Commercial Wildlife Management certification, but that one covers only trapping rats and mice in, on, or under a structure.
